History of XanGo

XanGo is the name of a juice and the name of the company that makes it. XanGo juice is made from tropical fruits named Mangostana (often it is referred to as the mangosteen). No one knows where the fruit originated but it is believed to have occurred in the Sunda Islands and Moluccas. One can still find wild mangosteen trees in Malaya. Scientists believe that the fruit was first domesticated in Thailand or Burma.

In the 1990s, xanthones were extracted from the mangosteen. Scientists found that the xanthones helped to provide the human body with important antioxidants and other substances to help boost the immune system. Recently a juice companies began to produce a juice from the mangosteen, and the juice is called XanGo.

Here's the brief history of XanGo juice in timeline:

1800 - The Mangosteen tree was planted in Ceylon.

1800s - Queen Victoria of the United Kingdom tasted the fruit and she declared it her favorite.

1850 - The Mangosteen tree was introduced to Trinidad.

1855 - England began to cultivate the plant in greenhouses.

1881 - The Mangosteen Tree was planted in India.

1906 - The United States Department of Agriculture received Mangosteenseeds from the tree planted in Purto Rico and the Panama Canal Zone.

1924 - The Mangosteen was found growing in Ecuador by Dr. Wilson Popenoe.

1949 - Dierberger Agricola Ltda., of Sao Paulo began to include the mangosteen in their nursery catalog.

1965 Approximately 9,700 acres of mangosteens were bieng cultivated in Thailand.

1992 - Scientists made xanthones from the inhibitors of the mangosteen fruit.

1994 - Scientists found that the mangosteen fruit had many important antioxidants in it.

1997 - Scientists discovered and claimed that by eating the mangosteen, a boost would be given to the immune system.

2002 - MyXango.com was founded. The company produces juice from the mangosteen fruit. In the same year, XanGO LLC was officially created. They allow other companies to sell XanGo. There is also The Go XanGo group, a group of independent distributors for XanGo.

2002 October - Nutraceutical mangosteen composition patent application. No. 283600 filed by inventors Garrity; Aaron R. (Pleasant Grove, UT); Morton; Gordon A. (Springville, UT); Morton; Joseph C. (Springville, UT).
